Jay has extensive experience as a private investor, investment banker and commercial lender primarily to the lower-middle-market in the Southwest. In these roles he has developed skills in building deep relationships with deal sources; underwriting both junior-debt and equity investments; analyzing credit and valuing private securities; managing portfolio companies effectively; and professionalizing and maximizing the value of companies by coaching, influencing and enhancing management teams.
Jay has held several senior roles with multiple private equity firms, including BancOne Mezzanine Capital; CapitalSouth Partners III; and a founding partner of Dos Rios Partners. Prior to his private equity roles, he worked for several world-class financial services companies including JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America and KPMG. He also has experience as a C-level executive of a publicly traded company.
Jay earned a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Jay is actively involved in numerous professional and civic organizations including the Dallas Fort Worth Private Equity Forum, the Association for Corporate Growth, and the Dallas Association of Investment Analysts. He also serves as an elder of Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC) and is actively involved in their marriage ministry. He formerly served as Moderator of the Diaconate of PCPC, on the President’s Council of Dallas Theological Seminary and as a board member of Providence Christian School of Texas and Broadway Dallas.
Jay grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and is married with four children and ten grandchildren. He enjoys bird-hunting, fly-fishing, coaching, playing baseball and studying Civil War history.
